Why are we building this?
With the Vital Communities listservs shutting down, our region is losing an important way for neighbors to connect. For years, these lists have helped people share announcements, events, recommendations, local resources, and everyday conversations.
We’re building NECTARnet to keep that connection going, with timely email delivery, light-touch local moderation, and a service that feels familiar and easy to use.
What does NECTARnet stand for?
NECTAR stands for New England Community Talk and Resources.
The name reflects what we hope to create: a neighbor-focused network where conversations, announcements, events, recommendations, and useful local information help New England communities stay connected.
Are the new community lists available now?
Not yet. We’re still getting everything ready.
By signing up here, you’re letting us know that you’re interested. We’ll send you an invitation when the new community lists are ready.
Can you transfer my subscriptions from the existing Vital Communities lists?
Not at this time. We have contacted Vital Communities about preserving the existing archives and transferring subscriber information, but we have not yet received a response.
We remain hopeful that some form of transition or archive preservation will be possible. In the meantime, signing up here is the best way to make sure you hear from us when NECTARnet launches.
Am I joining an email list by submitting this form?
No. You’re only asking to receive an invitation when the new lists become available.
We’ll send you a confirmation email now, but you will not be automatically subscribed to any community or discussion list.
Which communities can I choose?
You can choose any incorporated city or town in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, or Vermont.
You’re welcome to select more than one community. We don’t plan to limit the number of communities or individual lists you may join.
How will my information be used?
We’ll use your information to confirm your request, prepare for launch, understand which communities and types of lists people are interested in, and protect the site from spam and abuse.

When will the lists launch?
We don’t have a firm public launch date yet. We want to make sure the service is dependable and ready before opening it to the community.
Everyone who confirms their interest will be contacted when invitations are available.
